One of a series of images photographed earlier this past winter of the northern lights, as viewed from the Arctic. Tromso, Norway Heavenly
In April, dark winter skies and an illusive aurora gave way to the light of early spring in the far north. Touched by an Angel
The northern lights can seemingly materialize out of nowhere on winter evenings in northern Norway. They fluctuate in intensity, but will often color the sky in wonderful hues of green or red. To witness this on an icy cold winter evening is a phenonemon that people of the Arctic frequently take for granted, but - for visitors - proves to be a mind-boggling experience. Winter Aurora
Heading northwards, earlier this past winter - and away from the glare of city lights - I found a dark spot on an old rural road that offered a wonderful view of the northern lights and the seaside just a few steps away. Temperatures were close to - 10 C. Chilly conditions for sure, but you always have to dress well when venturing out on evenings like this. Tromso, Norway. Angelic
Nothing beats taking images of the northern lights when they're as stunning as this. All within a few shivering steps from my home. While shooting this photograph, the entire sky seemed to come alive with great bands of light stretching from northeast to southwest. Tromso, Norway. Bifröst

Tromsø - home of the northern lights. Under the Aurora
Extreme aurora conditions lived up to expectations this weekend. The bright, setting light of Jupiter is relected in the sea, amid the green hues of the relected northern lights. Jupiter and the Aurora
I have never, ever experienced what I did last night! After waiting for the northern lights to come out last night for some time, I was on the verge of calling it a day, when suddenly I was treated to an aurora show beyond expectations. Things were just wild, and I ended up staying outside until 2 AM. This image shows what could be seen when looking directly over head. More to come. Light in Darkness
Another capture from late January, when solar activity was high - and the resulting aurora painted the sea in delightful shades of gold and deep green. Painted Waters
I would have loved to throw out newer images of the northern lights here, but the weather hasn't been of much help lately. Clouds, wind and snow only keep me inside, I'm afraid. Enjoy another image from one of the times I was out and about in late January. Anyone There?
